Squee! New Contract with Whiskey Creek Press Torrid!

I'm so excited! I just signed with Whiskey Creek Press Torrid for my contemporary, fantasy erotic romance SANTA'S WAYWARD ELF!

Here's the blurb!

Santa's Wayward Elf

Being one of Santa’s elves isn’t all sugar plums and candy canes.

At least not for Sosie. Taller than other elves, she’s always had a problem fitting in at the North Pole, so when the transport sled she’s on breaks down in New York City on Christmas Eve, she can’t resist slipping away to explore the world of the “big people.” While she’s having fun, the transport sled takes off, leaving the naïve elf stranded. Handsome police detective Derek Clayton comes to her rescue. Having heard horror stories about the big people, Sosie is relieved to meet such a kind man. Not to mention one so gorgeous and well-built.

Although Sosie expects the North Pole to send out a search party, she finds herself falling for Derek. She desperately wants to tell him she’s an elf, but knows he’ll never believe her. When the lies and omissions start to pile up, Derek can draw only one conclusion—Sosie is working for the mob boss he’s been trying to put in prison for years. Just when things seem like they can’t get any worse, the chief of elfin security shows up to drag Sosie back to the North Pole.

How is a runaway elf supposed to overcome a determined security elf, dangerous mobsters and a suspicious boyfriend all while keeping her pointed ears a secret?

Weighty Thoughts

By A.J. Llewellyn

You know the infamous food pyramid? What would your ideal one look like? I ran across this photo yesterday and it is the epitome of mine.

Recently I blogged about my new closet, which by the way is still not finished but that's by the by. As I was turfing out old clothes, I came across a pair of jeans from my college days. And boy, was I fat! It made me sad to see them, remembering how bad I felt in those days and how weight has always been an issue for me.

I've struggled to maintain a healthy weight - not easy when I have a sedentary job and I LOVE to eat, but I remembered as I threw out the jeans that I had kept them to remind myself of how I used to look and how I DO NOT want to look now or in the future. It spurred me to write a new story, a topic I previously visited in one of my favorite books, Beyond the Reef.

In many ways that book was very autobiographical, right down to my taking a job as a personal assistant to an obnoxious movie star.

In my new story, Full, for my Sins of Fall anthology (in which D.J. Manly, Serena Yates and I tackle the seven deadly sins), it should be no surprise my story tackles gluttony.

I found myself resisting the urge to eat candy as I wrote. I found myself becoming quite emotional. I called a dear friend and super-successful screenwriter, Elizabeth Hunter and told her that the story was flowing but bringing up a lot of old emotions for me.

She said, quite sensibly, that all writing raises issues for us.

"That's why we write," she said.

I think it was the only thing she could have said and yes, she is right, I sometimes wonder why food and weight is such an enormous emotional issue. I will be honest. I read an interview with two well-known M/M romance novelists and both women were extremely overweight. One of them was even photographed eating an enormous piece of cake.

Then on Facebook, I saw a recent photo of a bunch of romance writers at a convention and my God, they were all huge! Perhaps it is a hazard of our trade, but maybe that's also why we do write.

There was an episode of Absolutely Fabulous, in which Eddy told her mother, "Inside me, darling, is a thin person screaming to get out."

Her mother responded with, "Just the one, dear?"

I often think about this and laugh, because for me, the opposite is true. A fat person lurks and seeks to reclaim lost, gluttonous territory. At the height of my weight loss, I sometimes woke up in the middle of the night to check my weight on the scales. I have calmed down a lot because I am frankly, not that vain. The Vanity Gene as my friend Rob calls it, is seriously lacking in me.

My father just came to visit last week and whined about the state of my clothing. "Buy yourself some new clothes, for God's sake," he said. But he forgets I'm a writer and paying my bills is my priority.

Now, my friend Rob who coined The Vanity Gene theory, struggles with his weight and we discuss this issue a lot. My Dad has the gene in spades. He's never had a weight issue. It kills me. I asked him if he ever dreams about gummi bears and he looked at me as if I was nuts.

I wish some of his Vanity Genes had rubbed off on me, but I'm afraid, I think about Good and Plenty too much. I think about books. So many stories crowd my head. I need food to comfort me as I empty my brain of so much stuff.

I do know this.

I recently joined Weight Watchers because I felt the need to be with my people and I am so grateful I did. I've met so many wonderful people in all shapes and sizes. It's given me a wealth of new material. And the Weight Watchers candy bars are so yummy, too.

Ahem.

I have a safe place to exercise my fledgling vanity gene. I am afraid I might be a lost cause, but I might be slowly adjusting my mental food pyramid to include a few pieces of fruit and a veggie or two.

How about you? Is weight an issue for you? Do you eat and write? Or are you one of those lucky souls firmly in the grip of The Vanity Gene?

Please leave a comment to qualify to win a brand new paperback of my novel, The Love God of Indian Frybread. How ironic it should have food in the title...

Aloha oe,

A.J.

Guest Author - David Bridger!

Quarter Square

I'm thrilled to bits that my urban fantasy Quarter Square is released by Carina Press today! It's Book 1 of the Wild Times series. I'm working on Book 2 now and loving every moment of the whole series.

Here's the blurb

English carpenter Joe Walker thinks his life is over when he discovers his wife and best friend having an affair. Restoring an abandoned theatre offers little hope for a fresh start...until he follows a group of strangers through a hidden door into a world he never could have imagined.

In the haven known as Quarter Square, Joe encounters a community of supernatural street performers who straddle the mortal world and the magic realm known as the Wild. Here, Joe finds a sense of belonging he's never known before—and a chance to uncover the truth behind the frightening visions that have haunted him since childhood. He also meets Min, an enchanting singer who quickly captures his heart.

But as Joe settles into Quarter Square, he learns their haven is under attack, while an ancient enemy threatens to tear him and Min apart. Now, Joe must learn to wield his own powers in order to save the life he's come to love...

And here's the opening

I curled up on the stage floor and listened to rats scratching in the darkness high above. At least I hoped they were rats. The thought that something else might be stalking about among the rodents up there, its claws clicking on the dusty floor, brought my old fear of wolves bursting to the surface.

Stupid phobia. I’d never even seen a wolf in the flesh, and there was no way a wolf would be prowling the roof space of an abandoned theatre in Plymouth. No reason to think the creatures above me were anything other than rats.

It would serve Tony right if his building was infested. I might call the local council tomorrow and let them know. After all, I was supposed to be surveying the place. Might get a pest-control inspector down here and make it official before Tony even knew he had a problem.

On the other hand, I would probably walk away and leave him to his rats.

The place smelled old. Not damp. Not rotting. Just dusty and ancient. I rolled onto my back, gave my scalp and beard a good scratch and tried to concentrate on the noises and the smell of dry centuries. I preferred them to the sound of my thoughts and the stink of betrayal.

But the scurrying rats and deep darkness offered no distractions, and my haunted mind slid back to the source of my misery: the bright hotel room to which I’d returned unannounced twelve hours earlier, to find my naked wife riding my naked best friend.

I couldn’t blank out the memory of her hair swaying across her back, or their moans of pleasure as I walked into the room, or Tony’s grunt of pain when Carole twisted off him to crouch on the floor by the other side of the bed.

“Joe.” They gasped it simultaneously.

They tried to talk to me, but I didn’t want to hear any of their shit. Tony took a step towards me, covering himself with a pillow and spouting some pacifying crap, until I punched him in his lying mouth. He went down, spitting blood, and had the sense to stay down.

Carole wrapped herself in the bedsheet and stood tall. She raised her chin to me, as if offering a second target.

How could she think that of me? I’d never lifted a finger against her. She might have felt better about herself if I had hit her, but that wasn’t my style.

I sighed into the darkness. So here I was, alone in a strange city, at the lowest point in my life, spending a night on the dirty floor of my property developer friend’s latest auction purchase, with nowhere else to go and no one to turn to. Great.

New noises broke into my thoughts: footsteps and low-pitched voices coming from somewhere inside the building, as if men were walking up the corridor from the fire exit towards the foyer, on the other side of the wall from me.

I scrambled around for my boots, grabbed the heavy lamp without turning it on and pushed open one of the double doors a crack.

Three lithe, muscular young men dressed in dark clothing filed purposefully across the moonlit foyer. Their supple movements put me in mind of cats.

They didn’t break stride as they approached a blank wall. Just before he hit the old plaster, the front man snapped his fingers, and a door appeared in the wall.

My jaw dropped, but I managed to stay silent.

The finger snapper held the door open for the others, then walked through and left it to swing shut behind him.

I hurried across the foyer to catch the door before it closed, opened it carefully and slipped through, then stood on the pavement and stared out to where the office buildings should have been. But they weren’t there. In their place, a raggedy square of Elizabethan houses surrounded a small public garden.

Was this a film set or something? Coloured lamps twinkled in the trees, and the warm night air carried the murmur of voices. Someone barked a friendly laugh. A violin played a jig, and dancing movement flashed on the other side of the high bushes. People were having a party in the garden.

I squeezed my eyes shut and shook my head, but when I looked again, the square was still there, under a three-quarter moon so bright it threw shadows. I reached behind me to touch the door—just checking—and leaned towards it, as if I were standing on a cliff edge.

Soft footsteps sounded on the cobbles, and a woman of about my age rounded the corner, snapping her fingers as if she was listening to music. She wore a pink T-shirt with black skinny trousers tucked into combat boots. Her blond bob had pink streaks. She crossed the road and shot me a pretty smile.

“You’re lost, aren’t you?” Her voice was clear and sweet.

I inhaled her light scent and gazed across the square. “I don’t know.”

She started singing.

Guest Post - Elizabeth Black: MOMMMMY!! I Need You NOWWWW!!

Elizabeth Black here with my monthly Nice N' Naughty blog post. It's no secret that moms continue to do the bulk of the housework and childcare. Whilst more dads are doing their fair share, the brunt of the load continues to fall on her shoulders.

If she's a writer, she'd better know how to juggle many balls at once. Us women are very good at multi-tasking. It's in our genes. If she's also a writer, she has Olympics-level multi-tasking skills.

I'm lucky now that I have a very supportive husband. He cleans, cooks, fixes our computers and keeps the car running properly, giving me more uninterrupted time to write. I do some cleaning as well but he won't allow me in "his" kitchen. Considering he's a gourmet cook and my cooking catches the attention of local health inspectors, I abide by his wishes. My husband and son are also geeks, as am I. My son sits on my left playing "Tribes" whilst wearing his headphones. My husband sits on my right side playing "World Of Warcroft" whilst wearing his headphones. I'm in the middle, creating new worlds and people I find amusing. We're in our own little worlds but we communicate when necessary. And we chatter a lot.

Whilst I write fiction, I also work as a copywriter for a British sex toys company writing descriptions for toys like vibrating butt plugs and I maintain the company's blog. The money I bring in pays the bills each month just as much as my husband's job contributes.

Plenty of people think women who write erotic romances and erotica sit around all day dressed in sexy, silky loungewear or we wear leather corsets and seamed stockings while tapping away at our keyboards.

Nope.

I wear a t-shirt and shorts. I know women who work on their bondage scenes wearing flannel jammies. Nary a silk nightie or leather corset in sight!

Whilst I'm fortunate enough to have a supportive husband and a college-aged son who isn't too terribly embarrassed that his mom writes "naughty words", I've heard plenty from other female erotic romance writers about how little respect they get from friends and family. Here are a few examples from a recent discussion on a Facebook group:

"Love the ones that think because you work at home, you're available...free for them and anything they need, accept a delivery, answer the front door buzzer...after all you're not REALLY working, you're at home, right?"
"I have a few friends who get miffed if I tell them I have to stop chatting in IM because I need to get to work. They take it personally, like I'm snubbing them when I'm not."
"I love the friends and family members that think just because I write, I can write anything they want or need for whatever purpose. I've even been "volunteered" to write a term paper for my nephew and I was like "y'all are smokin' crack because it ain't happening!""
"I have a few people like that. It got so bad at one point that I felt overwhelmed by the virtual world and actually fell into a mild depression. I deleted my IM clients and said eff off to anybody who couldn't let me breathe. Voila! All better. LOL"
"I hide from everyone. I never have my Facebook status as bieng online and I pretend I'm too much of a Luddite to understand how Messenger works. LOL"
"Everybody wants me to chat and I just don't have that kind of time."
"And about 95% of the people I know are other writers so they don't bug me when I need to write. They fully understand. The other 5%? I play Howard Hughes and hide from them. LOL"
And when you tell them you need to go they take it personally. They get mad and insulted. I don't have time for that."
"I agree with ya. It's nothing personal, but non-writers don't seem to get that."
"I don't chat unless someone comes to me--but I got one of my best ideas for a sex scene from a reader who shared it in chat. So, I don't turn it off completely. But, if I don't want to chat, I just ignore it or tell them I can't chat right now."
"I have no problems with my on-line friends . . . in the real world though the hubs and the teen think if they stand behind me and hover I'll stop writing . . . and they think that isn't interrupting!! Then I remind them I'm working and get the dumb blank looks :("
"I often have my headphones on and my husband not only stands next to me sometimes, but removes one side of the headphones to talk! :("
"I usually get the thousand questions. On father's day we were watching a movie and I pulled out my computer to do some promo while we watched. At this point its a fairly mindless activity. I already have my excerpts picked out its just sending it to the right groups. I started getting twenty questions, what you doing? why you doing it? who you sending it to? Watch the movie and mind your business :P"
"I don't have problems with the family anymore. They understand this is my livelihood and passion, and just like I let him work on his car w/o interruption he leaves me be. The kids are quiet and well behaved, thankfully. But some of these people online think I exist solely to watch their drama unfold on my IM screen. Um, no. A condensed email with all of the day's happenings is much preferred. LOL

New Release! Enter a World of Spanking, Bondage and Out-of-this-Galaxy Sex in PIRATE'S WOMAN!

I'm so excited to announce I have a new book out with Ellora's Cave called PIRATE'S WOMAN. It's hot, sexy and has a hero you're going to absolutely fall in love with!

I have to admit I usually ignore those themed calls for submissions - you know the ones where the publishers will ask for stories about firemen, or lifeguards, or men who dress up in chicken costumes (okay, I made that one up!). I usually ignore those calls for submissions because I'm not an author who can easily write to a particular theme - mainly because I tend to write whatever story grabs me, which doesn't always fit the theme (okay, it never fits the theme). And by the time I come up with a story idea that does fit the theme, it's past the deadline. But that all changed with the pirate-themed Ahoy! books from Ellora's Cave. The moment I read about it, I immediately came up with a story, mostly because I've always thought pirates are so damn sexy! Blame it on all those historical romances I read as a teen. There was nothing hotter than a big, strong handsome pirate falling for the feisty woman he either kidnapped, rescued or whatever. LOL!

But while my experience with pirates was in the historical genre, I didn't want to write an historical. Instead, I wanted to do sci-fi. And I wanted it to be hot! So, I came up with a story about a beautiful woman named Teyla who agrees to let the sinfully handsome pirate Slayter sell her as a sex slave on the auction block in order to pay off the enormous debt her family owes him. Teyla is determined to bring in as much money as she can, but is afraid she won't fetch a high price because she's inexperienced when it comes to men. That's when things get really fun because she asks Slayter if he'll teach her how to pleasure a man. Just to improve her value, you know? Of course, he agrees. How could he say no, right?

Now, here's where the story gets complicated. While he's instructing her on how to be a sex slave, Slayter starts falling for Teyla, and she for him. But she agreed to pay off her family's debt and he needs the money for his ship and his crew. What can either of them do?

You'll have to read the story to find out! And to give you added incentiive, I'll tease you with a steamy excerpt.

Enjoy!

Blurb:

To honor the debt her family owes Slayter Cardona, beautiful Teyla Dunai agrees to let him sell her as a sex slave in the markets of Arkhon. Determined to bring as much value as she can on the auction block, but inexperienced where men are concerned, she asks the handsome pirate if he’ll teach her how to pleasure a man. Intrigued, and more than a little attracted to the lavender-eyed beauty, Slayter agrees.

As he initiates her into the world of bondage, spanking and out-of-this-galaxy sex, though, both Teyla and Slayter find themselves falling for each other. But Slayter has a responsibility to his crew, and Teyla knows it is her duty to pay off her family’s debt. With the deal already agreed upon, there doesn’t seem to be any way for their story to have a happy ending. Or is there?

Excerpt:

“Have you ever been to Arkhon before?” she asked, trying to distract herself so she wouldn’t stare at him.

Slayter sopped up what was left of his stew with a piece of bread. “Once.”

She would have thought he’d go there more since he was a pirate. “What will happen when we get there?”

He hesitated. “I’m not quite sure. I’ve never sold a slave before, but I imagine it will be the same process as selling anything else there.”

Meaning she would be put on the auction block and sold to the highest bidder. “Do you know if buyers look for certain things when they purchase a sex slave?”

He frowned slightly. “I suppose.”

“You don’t think they’ll want to…sample the merchandise before they buy, will they?”

“I’m sure some buyers might, but I don’t think the people who run the auction would allow that.” Slayter must have seen the relief on her face because he gave her a reassuring smile. “You don’t have anything to be concerned about, Teyla. You’re a very beautiful woman. Any man can see that.”

Considering the situation, the compliment shouldn’t have warmed her like it did, but she felt herself blush anyway. “It’s just that I don’t have very much experience when it comes to sex. I mean, I’m not a virgin, but I haven’t been with a lot of men, either. I’m concerned potential buyer will know right away that I’m inexperienced.” She looked at him from beneath lowered lashes. “I don’t want you to come out on the short end of this exchange.”

He shook his head. “I really don’t think that’s going to be a problem.”

She frowned. “Maybe, but my family would be very embarrassed if I didn’t earn enough money on the block to cover the debt.” She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “This is very difficult to ask, but do you think you might be able give me some advice on how best to please a man?”

“Advice?” His eyes went a little wide at that, and he cleared his throat. “Uh, actually, sex is more of a…hands-on thing.”

“Oh.”

Teyla chewed on her lower lip. She couldn’t believe she was even contemplating what she was about to do, but the thought that one of her sisters might end up where she was if she didn’t earn enough money to cover the debt was enough to give her the courage she needed.

She lifted her gaze to look at Slayter. “Would you be willing to give me hands-on experience then?”

He arched a brow, but didn’t say anything. From the expression on his face, though, it was clear he was taken aback by her request.

“I know I probably shouldn’t be asking you for favors, but I just want to make sure you receive the money my family owes you.” When he still didn’t answer, she added softly, “If you don’t find me pleasing enough to bed, I understand.”

She was afraid to think what that would mean when it came to her value on the auction block. What would happen if no one bid on her at all?

The corner of Slayter’s mouth curved. “I find you quite pleasing, Teyla. Perhaps more than I should.”

Her pulse quickened. “Then you’ll teach me?”

There was a very long pause, then, “Yes, I’ll teach you. If that’s what you really want.”

“It is. Can we start now?”

They only had a few days before they reached Arkhon, and she didn’t want to waste any time.

He hesitated, then nodded. “If you’d like.”

Slayter might have seemed hesitant when she’d first brought it up, but now that he had agreed, she could see the fire burning in his eyes. Something told her the pirate would be a very thorough teacher. Heat pooled between her thighs at the thought of him showing her all the different ways she could pleasure a man. She might learn more with him in a few days than she probably ever would have with the men on her planet.

Slayter stood and came around to her side of the table. Taking her hand, he gently pulled her to her feet. Teyla had known out the pirate was tall when she’d stood in front of him in the cargo hold earlier, but now she realized just how tall he really was. She barely came up to those broad shoulders of his.

She waited for Slayter to say something, but he simply gazed down at her. The smolder in his gold eyes took her breath away and she swayed toward him. Her reaction to being so close to him caught her off guard, but before she could steady herself, he lowered his head and covered her mouth with his.

The kiss took her by surprise and for a moment she didn’t know how to respond. She hadn’t expected Slayter to do something so intimate. She’d thought they would shed their clothes and get to it. But as his mouth moved slowly and deliciously over hers, she melted against the hard wall of his chest. He slid his hand in her long hair, deepening the kiss with a groan. Teyla parted her lips under his, sighing with pleasure when his tongue invaded her mouth to claim hers. She ran her hands up his chest to clutch his shoulders, afraid if she didn’t hold on to something that she would fall. She didn’t know a man’s kisses could be so intoxicating.

Or that the feel of his hands on her body could set her afire. But as his free hand slid up her midriff to cup her breast through the thin material of her dress, the heat that had pooled between her thighs earlier completely engulfed her. If she responded to him like this when they were fully clothed, how was she going to react when they were both naked?

That was when she remembered the purpose behind what they were doing. She was supposed to be learning how to pleasure Slayter, but instead it was the other way around. She wondered if she should remind him of that, but as he trailed kisses along the curve of her jaw and down her neck, she decided to play the willing student and leave the teaching part to him.

SECURITY RISK! New and Just $0.99!

I'm so excited to announce I have a new book out called SECURITY RISK! It's fun, sexy and smokin' hot! Oh, and it's just $0.99 on Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook and All Romance eBooks!

I got the idea for the story from an article in a magazine in which readers revealsed their most embarassing moments. One of the women explained that she reviewed sex toys for a magazine and that she companies were always sending her stuff at her office so she could review them. Well, she was taking the subway home from work when she dropped her bag in front a cop working security at the station. She was so embarrased that she quickly shoved everything in her bag and ducked onto the subway!

The heroine in my book is going through security at an airport instead of getting on a subway, nor is she quite as shy when the hunky cop who searches her bag suggests they try out some of her toys right then and there!

Blurb:

Why read a magazine while waiting for your plane to board, when you can have a kinky quickie with a gorgeous officer of the law instead?

Magazine columnist Lake Cooper is shocked when the hot cop working with airport security announces he has to search her bag. Suddenly, the fantasy she had a few minutes earlier of the gorgeous Officer Shane Nelson "arresting" her isn't quite so exciting. When he takes her into a private room to open her suitcase, she’s embarrassed to discover she accidentally tried to board the plane with the bag of sex toys she’s supposed to review instead of her carry-on.

Shane pulls one sex toy after another out of the bag, asking Lake what makes each one worthy of a high mark on her rating scale. As the conversation heats up, it’s obvious the sexy stud with the handcuffs is coming onto her.

More than a little attracted to him, she suggests they set up a date when she gets back so he can help her test out the newest batch of vibrators for review. She surprised when he instead proposes they try them out right then and there. She eagerly agrees and soon they’re trying out not only the vibrator, but a leather paddle and his police-issued handcuffs, too!

Excerpt:

"Have you ever rated a toy a perfect ten?”

Man, this conversation was getting hotter by the second. She looked up at him from beneath her lashes. “I haven’t given anything a ten yet. I’m leaving that spot open for when I come across something that really rocks my world.”

His gaze was lazy as it roamed over her. “And what would it take to rock your word?”

Someone tall, dark and handsome equipped with a gorgeous body and a big, hard cock would certainly do it.

“That’s tough to answer since I haven’t found it yet. I’ll know it when I see it, though. It will have to be something that makes me orgasm so hard I’ll forget every other climax I’ve ever had.”

He let out a soft, sexy chuckle. “I don’t think any toy is going to be able to do that.”

“Probably not. But I’m always looking. A couple of vibrators have come close, though.”

His mouth curved. “That’s your sex toy of choice, then.”

“Most definitely.”

“What is it about vibrators that put them near the top of your orgasameter?”

She couldn’t believe how nonchalant he was about vibrators. Most men she’d met were so intimidated by the thought of women using vibrators that they treated the little technological marvels like they were some kind of evil creation.

“Most sex toys—like dildos—take a lot of effort,” she said. “With a vibrator, I can relax and let it do all the work. I can completely immerse myself in whatever fantasy I’m having and focus on the orgasm. Or orgasms, if it’s a really good vibrator.”

He considered that. “But you still have to hold the vibrator just like you would a dildo.”

“I agree that can sometimes be a distraction.”

“It’d be better if someone held it for you then, wouldn’t it?”

She felt color tint her cheeks. “I haven’t found many men who are comfortable with a woman whisking out a vibrator in bed.”

“Then you haven’t been in bed with the right man.”

Her breath hitched. That was one opening she couldn’t ignore. “Officer Nelson, are you coming onto me?”

“It’s Shane.” His mouth twitched. “And if you can’t tell I’m coming onto you, I must not be doing it right.”

Oh, he was doing it right. And the thought of him using a vibrator on her had her pussy throbbing.

Lake gave him a come-hither look. “Well, then maybe we should get together when I come back, so you can help me test out the newest batch of vibrators for review.”

The suggestion was wild and bold and unlike anything she’d ever done before, but there was something so irresistible about the handsome Shane Nelson that she couldn’t help herself. She wanted him, and she wanted him bad. Besides, she deserved a good romp after the dry spell she’d been in.

His eyes turned to molten gold. “Why wait until then when we could try them out right now?”

She blinked. She was so startled by his proposition she could barely make her mouth work. “Now?”

He reached out the gently run the backs of his fingers down her arm. His touch sent a delicious shiver through her, and Lake bit her lip to stifle a moan.

“Sure,” he said. “Your flight doesn’t leave for two hours, and testing out sex toys is way more fun than sitting around reading a magazine while you wait for your plane to board.”

She couldn’t argue there. “But what the TSA agents? Won’t they wonder where you are?”

He took a step closer. “I went off duty five minutes ago.”

Damn, he smelled good. Not like cologne, either. Just pure, unadulterated male. It was intoxicating. “But anyone could walk in.”

“Not if I lock the door.” He bent his head, his mouth hovering mere millimeters above hers. “Do you want me to lock the door? Or would you rather go read that magazine instead?”

Saturday Soulful Quotes By Renee Vincent

Hello everyone and welcome to another addition of Saturday Soulful Quotes. Today, I have several great books I think you will like for this month's feature. So, grab a seat, pick up a pen and paper, and enjoy! Remember, these are all lines from authors unafraid of getting a little soulful, sappy, or even suggestive in their books.

And all the books I'm featuring today are books I won and/or bought at Lori Foster's Readers & Authors Get Together 2011. So, feel free to leave a comment and let me know which ones appeal to your senses.
Happy Saturday!

“If ye leave me wanting again, I’ll kill ye,” she threatened and sucked his nipple into her mouth. She drew on it, flicked it with the tip of her pink tongue, then pulled it between her teeth.

The woman was wild, untamed, and quickly becoming more than he could handle. He captured both her wrists in one hand and drew them over her head, then feasted on her damp neck, her sharp collarbone, the tops of her breasts pouring out of the corset. Shattered patience prevented him from fighting the rigid garment, so he filled his palm with her surprisingly round rump and slid her further up his thigh.

He always imagined their first time together would be gentle, loving, a slow exploration of flesh, but the woman was an aggressor and damn if he would switch to timid tactics now.
~ Kimberly Killion, Caribbean Scot

Regret tilted her sweet mouth downward as she met his gaze. Merda, the way she was looking at him made him want to hold her close and tell her everything was going to be all right. He took the ceramic dish from her, set it inside the dishwasher then closed the door.

“You asked me if I was afraid of you,” she said softly. “I’m not. And that’s what really scares the hell out of me, because what I saw makes me think I should be.”

The confusion in her eyes made him heave a sigh. “I know I keep saying that there’s a lot for you to take in, but it’s the truth. I don’t know what you saw, but I’m sure it’s not the whole picture.”

“I know that. I’m sorry.” She forced a wry smile to that delicious mouth of hers. “The truth of the matter is, I feel like I’ve been drop-kicked down a rabbit hole and I’m still falling.”

“Then I’ll catch you.”

The minute the words were out of his mouth, he suppressed a groan. Matris Deus, what the hell was he saying? He drew in a deep breath and the scent of her tantalized his nostrils. It was a sweet, delicious smell that sent his pulse rate skyrocketing. He swallowed hard at the way her lips parted in a small circle of surprise. It made him want to kiss her again. Christus
. There wasn’t a word that could define how far gone he was at the moment.
~Monica Burns, Assassin's Honor

"Your a beautiful woman." He traced the cups of her bra, sending her into a spinning, tumbling feeling of sensation. "Soft. Curvy in all the right places. You taste like peaches and look like a milkmaid, but arch against me."
~Keri Ford, In The Hay

He ran his hand down the front of her dress to cup her hot sex through the silky material. Beneath his palm, her pussy throbbed with need and she writhed against him, silently begging for more. As if reading her mind, Gray began to make lazy, little circles on her clit with his finger. Paisley caught her breath. He was driving her crazy.

Suddenly, the urge to touch him like he was touching her was too much. She tried to pull her wrists free of his grasp, but he only held her more firmly. Lifting his head, he gazed down at her with undisguised hunger in his dark eyes.

"I could make you come like this, couldn’t I?" he asked, his fingers moving round and round her clit through the material of her dress.

Paisley caught her lower lip between her teeth and let out a soft, little moan, wondering if he knew just how close she was to orgasm. A little bit more of what he was already doing and she would go over the edge for sure.

To her dismay, Gray took his hand away. "Not yet," he said softly.

Lori Foster Get Together

The Lori Foster Get Together is always awesome, but Lori and Dianne and their volunteers totally outdid themselves this year!

My hubby and I got there on Thursday. We had dinner with my good friend Moni Draper, her husband, and author Linnea Sinclair, who is awesome! We had so much fun with them that after coming back to the hotel, we quickly unpacked and went down to the bar to hang out with them some more!

The Get Together officially starts on Friday, and begins with stuffing the goody bags! This year, there were four hundred attendees, so that's a lot of bags to stuff with swag! But it's a great opportunity to hang out and talk with everyone, so it goes fast.

Since we had some time before registration started, my hubby and I went to the IKEA store. We've been hearing about it, but hadn't ever been to it, so we wanted to check it out. The place is huge! Let me tell you, it definitely lives up to the hype!

Okay, back to the Get Together!

After registering, we went into the ballroom to sit at our table. This year, authors made up centerpieces for the tables, so Lori asked us to sit at the tables with our centerpieces. I showcased my new paranormal romance GHOST HUNTER with a signed copy of the book, an EMF Ghost Detector, a collector's edition of Ghostbusters, the Best of the TV show Ghost Hunters, a book on the ghosts of New York, chocolate chip cookies, Ghiradelli chocolates, and the cutest plush Casper! It was a huge hit and Melanie, the person at the table who won it, loved it!

The Get Together is all about hnging out with friends, and that night it was at a pizza party. I got to see lots of friends I made at previous Get Togethers, as well as meet a lot of new friend, including some of my fellow Ellora's Cave authors, and Romance Divas, which I was really excited about! It's so much fun to finally meet people you talk to online! They all totally rock, by the way!

On Saturday, we sat in on a workshop taught by Jenn Stark about promotion and what works and what doesn't. Then after lunch, it was time for the book signing. At previous Get Togethers, we did it in the ballroom, (that sounded naughty, didn't it?! LOL!) but this time we did it (couldn't resist!) in the atrium. It was so much better, and as always, so much fun! Oh, and the awesome Kate Douglas, whom I met at previous Get Togethers, and who was also signing books, specifically asked me to keep my Ellora's Cave book IF YOU DARE for her because she'd been wanting to read it! I was so flattered!

Throughout the weekend, they raffle off the baskets the authors make, finishing it up Saturday night after dinner. Fellow author and good friend Renee Vincent won my basket. And no, I didn't rig it! LOL!

After that, we hung out with friends, talking, laughing and saying how we can't wait for the next Get Together!

Oh, almost forgot! I'll be posting more pics on my Facebook as soon as we download them! I'll let you know when I post them!

*hugs*

This is day two of my two week Hollywood Confessions Blog Tour, so please check out my website for more tour stops, as I’ll be giving away cool prizes (including gift cards, free books, cameo appearances, and Hollywood Headlines collectibles) at each stop!

Hollywood Confessions explores the sexy, scandalous, and sensational world of Hollywood through the eyes of tabloid reporter, Allie Quick. Allie has high aspirations - much higher than reporting on the latest celebrity gossip for the L.A. Informer, Hollywood's most notorious tabloid. But if she's going to join the ranks of the real reporters, she's going to need a headline worthy story under her belt. Luckily, she gets just that when the producer of the trashiest reality shows on TV winds up murdered, and Allie convinces her editor, Felix Dunn, that this story has her name written all over it. Between an aging sing-off judge, a family with sextuplets and triplets, and the star of a little person dating show, Allie has no shortage of reality stars to question. But when she finds herself falling for her prime suspect, Allie's relationship with her editor is suddenly on the rocks, and her life is in danger. This is one deadline Allie can't afford to miss!

New Release and Book Giveaway!

I want to thank the fabulous authors of Nice N Naughty Blog for having me here today. I'm Randi Alexander and I write cowboy erotic romance. My first book, Chase and Seduction was released May 27 from The Wild Rose Press' Cowboy Kink line.

I love the idea of nice and naughty. Do we all have both of these in us? I like to think so. Often when I start reading a book, I see that the heroine is the nice one, and the hero chasing after her is the naughty one. But somewhere in the next few chapters, we see that the heroine has a few naughty tendencies of her own. And that makes it interesting!

Especially in historical romance. I'm reading Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas, and the female leads are usually young, English maidens, untried, raised with proper manners and tight corsets. The fun part is when the maiden becomes a vixen in the hands of a proper rake. He's surprised by just how naughty this nice girl can be.

It's always refreshing when it's the hero who's nice, and the heroine is the naughty one, chasing him down, looking for a good time. I'm also reading (yes, I have many books going at once) High Stakes Seduction by Lori Wilde. I'm only a few chapters in, but I can tell that Eva is the naughty one, chasing poor Adam (yes, Adam and Eva) and tempting him mercilessly. He's trying to stay away from her, but is having little success so far. I can't wait until his naughty side starts showing.

In my new release, Chase and Seduction, my heroine, Reno, is nice, and the hero, Chase, is naughty, but he wants to change, to become a reformed rake, but once Reno gets a taste of how much fun it is to be naughty, it's a whole new rodeo.

Here's the blurb and a short excerpt.

Country music superstar/actor Chase Tanner has yet to be denied anything–and he’s never wanted anything or anyone more than gorgeous screenplay writer Reno Linden. So when the film they are working on is finally finished, Chase decides to turn up the volume on seducing Reno.

Reno Linden lived a quiet, rural life until she was thrust into the Hollywood scene when her book was adapted to film. Chase Tanner is larger than life, sinfully sexy and hell-bent on getting her into bed. Skittish after a failed wedding engagement, Reno risks the plunge into Chase’s arms, and is surprised that her good girl self can keep up with bad boy Chase.

Though Chase returns to his cowboy roots often, and Reno cherishes the time spent with him on his ranch, the two find their careers pulling them in different directions. Will their attraction survive the glitz and stress of fame?

EXCERPT: Over 18 only

“Wow,” she said, looking around the gold-hued marble entry. High ceilings and walls of windows facing the Gulf could easily intimidate a country girl like Reno. But Chase knew what to do to get her mind off the different lifestyles they led. And it had to do with a king-size bed, her laying naked on it, and him pressing down on top of her. The visual sent an immediate surge of blood to his cock, and he grabbed her hand. “Tour can wait. We can’t.”

He hauled her suitcase and her through the foyer to the foot of the stairs.
She laughed. “I like the caveman routine.”

“Oh, yeah?” He set her suitcase on the floor and turned to her, grinning as he bent his knees and lifted her arm over his head to toss her on his shoulder.

“Chase, no!” she cried, just as his cook and housekeeper entered from the back of the house.

“Uh…Mr. Tanner,” his cook said, removing his white cap. Next to him, the housekeeper’s cheeks turned red as she busied herself smoothing the pocket on her apron.

Chase froze and straightened then put his hand on Reno’s back, sending her an apology with his expression.
Her face was bright red, but he still saw laughter in her eyes.

To celebrate the release of Chase and Seduction, I'm giving away, to one lucky *commenter, an e-copy of my novella Her Cowboy Stud. Just leave a comment today and we'll choose a winner tomorrow. *Commenter must be 18 years of age or older to win.

I'm also giving away a cowgirl hat to one subscriber to my newsletter. For more details, and to sign up for this contest, please go to my website, RandiAlexander.com And while you're there, you can read the first chapter of Chase and Seduction.

Good luck, and thank you!

Romance Trading Cards

I first heard about Romance Trading Cards from author Jeannie Lin. Having collected Charlie's Angels Trading Cards when I was a kid, I was immediately excited by the idea and ready to run out an order them right away. Then I remembered I first had to pick which characters I wanted to feature!

After thinking about it for a little bit, I decided to go with Drake Parrish, the hero from DEAD SEXY and Trace McCord, the hero from GHOST HUNTER. Okay, so I was off and running again to order them! Then I realized I needed to put some stats on the back of the cards!

So, I did some more thinking and came up with what I think are some pretty fun details about each hero. On the back of each card, you'll find the hero's name, occupation, strength, weakness and his best line.

I really love the way they came out, and if they're as popular as I hope, then I'll get some made for some of my other characters!

Drake Parrish from DEAD SEXY!

Trace McCord from GHOST HUNTER!

Oh, almost forgot! I'll be handing them out at Lori Foster's Get Together and Ellora's Cave RomantiCon, so if you'd like to add them to your collection, come on over and see me!
