So what's the scoop?

Well, it’s my day off from the day job, hence the lateness of this post. LOL.
This past week has been a busy one.

To start with, a friend emailed me and thought one of my books was being pirated.
When in reality it was a SCAMMER site.

It’s a good thing I found that out and passed it on to her, before she “joined” this so called site. Other authors told me that once you “join” these people *snort* if you want to call them that, send all your info to other sites, like porn, other scammers and the list goes on.
They also told me that if you put gibberish in as a book title, it will come up. That’s a good way to check I suppose.

One author I know is having audio books released, and they’re now putting special chips of some kind (sorry, I’m not techy) in them, to make sure pirating does not happen. I think that’s a great idea, and e-book publishers should think along the same line.

Another interesting item was I found out the P & E polls have started. Now I “know” I’m supposed to pay attention to that stuff, but to be bluntly honest. I have too much else on my mind during the day to worry about what poll is starting when. Even though I go in and vote for the books I’ve read and all that good stuff.

Well lo-and behold, I spotted my name up there on the author page, for books published in 2008.
The Devil Himself didn’t make any other categories and that’s fine, it just surprised me to see my name up this year. Why you ask...
Well even though TDH was a Best Seller over at Whiskey Creek Press Torrid, it was no where close to the hit that A Slave's Way Out is. So I'm truly honored to who ever nominated me.

Okay, so there’s been some conflict and talks in a several author groups I belong to as to how honest these polls are...ballot stuffing, authors voting for themselves, nominating themselves, are the wins accurate, you know the down side to polls.

My personal opinion, I see nothing wrong with a nominee voting for themselves, ONCE!

So did I vote for my self at the P & E poll…
Your damn right I did. If someone thought my name is good enough to be nominated, why can’t I vote for myself without having a guilty conscious?
Hell do you think the people running for president and vice president are going to vote for the other guy? Some how, I think NOT.

You also have to think of the people puttting the poll on. Come on, they're not putting the poll on to better themselves, unless they are doing that, and I'm sure that would be quite obvious to everyone else.

It's not that easy to catch the no, no people. It could be one out of thirty, and unless someone comes forth to say "hey, this person is doing this..." how are the people putting on the poll supposed to know?

I belong to a group that has had a poll since it was created. I am a MOD, and people are asked to NOT vote for the staff members of the group, because we don't want something like that coming down on us.
And yes, we've had our share of no, no people, but if it wasn't for an honest person stepping forward to inform us, we never would have known about a few situations.

I feel for the owner, because an email like this was received "this is a scam, no one but your staff is winning."
If that person had bothered to look at ALL the categories, they would have seen that NOT ONE staff member was nominated.
So now, the owner is really reconsidering doing the poll this year.

It takes a LOT of energy and time. And after being harrassed, the Good feeling of helping other authors, have an award to show is fading.
And you know what, I don't blame the owner if the awards are cancelled. I'be sick of hearing that crap too, when all your trying to accompish is something good for the people you consider co-workers, and it's being tossed back in your face like a load of cow sh*t.

So my advice to anyone out there wanting to START a poll. Make your decision wisely. Becuase people will do this to you too. NO matter what measures you have up to prevent the no no's from doing no no's.
