The very nice and very, very naughty ladies at Nice 'N' Naughty blogspot asked me to take the wheel this morning and steer you into a little corner of my world. Well, what could be naughtier than Bowling For Porn Stars?
I did just that on Saturday night and I would like to say, it was fun. It was actually kinda creepy but fear not, intrepid readers, I did it. In the interest of blogdom, curiosity and plain, old fashioned rubber necking.
Yep, as I bowled on Saturday night, I felt like I was watching multiple collisions. You see, I have a friend who is a porn star. It's not something we talk about often. Interestingly, despite the fact she does porn, she wasn't very enthused about my erotic romance novels, despite the plethora of explicit sex. She was turned off by the gay themes...mind you she has sex with women in her movies!
Okay, so here's how it worked. A few ladies of the X trade ran an ad and their 'fans' paid ridiculous sums of money to bowl with them, nude. My friend however, bowled merely topless. Don't ask me why. Her body was better than a lot of the chicks there and a whole heap better than the 'fans' who ripped off their kit and started bowling...balls...they were everywhere!
It was bizarre watching these truly creepy, ugly guys falling over themselves to bowl with a few nude women.
One guy fell over his own tongue and got a gutterball - three alleys over!
My friend spent all night kissing and hugging her fans who all brought even creepier friends with digital cameras. She posed for pics and bowled.
Strike!
Her husband who is her frequent co-star, got hot and heavy with a couple of women and I just stared in mute dismay. But what could I say? They host swinging parties I just pretend to not know about. I just didn't particularly enjoy being witness to the crumbling scene around me.
I mean, I really went there to bowl...I had no idea an orgy was in the making.
I must be the most naive writer of porn/erotica, EVER!
I kept thinking, do they really want these gross strangers touching them? But then I realized, gross strangers actually fuck her. Thank God in her movies, she gets guys a lot better looking and cleaner than the motly crew who showed up on Saturday night.
I'm told the er...party continued at her house after we played our last frame. I am not a prude, but this was just not sexy to me. Not provocative at all.
I'll tell you something else...I had another experience last week and it felt just as icky. I was dragged to meet that Hugging Guru from India. My friend paid a couple of hundred bucks to take me and when I reached the Hugging Guru, I could honestly not understand what the fuss was about.
I did feel a wave of nausea though in that hot room when she put her arms around me and forced my head to her breast. It was covered in slobber...not my own.
It got me thinking on Saturday night as I hugged my porn star friend and waved her goodbye. Her breasts were covered in slobber too, but at least she's honest.
There was no 'spiritual' pretension here. No promise of a higher state, riches, wealth or whatever these 'gurus' are selling.
No, my friend was bowling for porn and got a little extra...er...somethin' somethin' out of it as well.
All in all, I preferred Bowling For Porn than I did hugging a guru. It was actually sexier because it wasn't labelling itself as anything other than it was.

The First Kiss or The Big Mac vs. The Whopper

Okay, okay, I can’t decide which on to blog about today. Soooo let’s just take them both *Grins*

The first kiss.

Hmmm. Let’s talk lovers, or potential lovers, and first dates. Yeah *slurp*

Is the first one always a bit…off? Not weird or anything (Well if it is RUNNNN :-) ) but more along the lines of…

which way do you turn your head,
do your noses bump,
do you go in wanting a kiss, it turns into almost a hug thing, and then you just turn heads.

See what I’m getting at.

The second kiss however is much more, hehehehehehehehe, yeah, you see what I mean.

While that gentle first, exploratory kiss is sweet, and nice, and everything, let’s get on to the second one with the passion, WOOT!!

Big Mac or Whopper?

I honestly have to say…I LOVE them both!! Not that I eat either on a regular basis.
The only thing that throws me off is *Echo* “Lettuce that wilts.” EWWWWW.

Summer Movies.....

So summer is here and it's time for the big budget movies to hit theaters. I have been waiting to go see one particular move....That movie has to be Wanted with the lovely and talented Angelina Jolie. I love her work especially the movie where she just kicks some serious butt. Her Tomb Raider movies are one of my faves.
Another movie that looks good is the new Will Smith movie called Hancock. From the previews it looks like it might be worth seeing.

Now the new Batman movie The Dark Night is one more I have to go see. I loved the first one that Christian Bale did and you can count on it that this one will blow you away.

Hellboy 2 is coming out in July. I haven't seen the first one yet so I don't know if it's worth seeing the second one before I see the first. People are pretty excited about it's release so it probably is a good one.
I was surprised to see another remake of The Incredible Hulk considering the last version didn't do so well. This one has been getting mixed reviews. I haven't seen this one yet so I don't know if it's good or bad.
Get Smart has been getting a ton of great reviews. It's a remake of an old TV series. Steve Carell is in it so you can count on bit time LOL.....

So what movies are you looking forward to seeing this summer? Have you seen any of the above? IF you have tell me what you though about them. Were they worth the hype or not so much?

I know sometimes we might think that it's too late for our dreams to come true but the truth is it's never too late. If you believe it you can achieve it. You can make it and have every dream come true. Be who you want to be and do what you want to.

When Technology goes awry

Well hello all,

First off, I'd like to say...HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD!!!! And to ALL you Dad's out there, I hope you have a great one!!!!

After over a week of not being able to chat, post, blog or converse with any of my on line friends, and readers. I can say I’m Back!!
I know, you’re all running away scared, LOL.

My computer’s operating system was corrupted. I had to back everything up. Thank god for flash drives, those things are awesome!! I just have to reinstall all my software now. What a pain in the butt that is. But at least I didn’t loose anything important.

So how dependant on technology are we? I wrote about this very subject in January.
Not that technology is bad, because I don’t think it is. I just think that the more we have, the more we become way too dependent on it. What in the heck’s going to happen if we ever have a total black out? I’ll be walking around like a chocolate addict eating my last Heresy’s bar, after the battery in my laptop goes kaput.
I can tell you, I was going nutty, not being able to get on.

I have a book releasing in July with WCPT that I wasn’t able to promote well, and for you authors you know how important it is to promote, promote, promote.

So let’s see…enough of my whining, and let’s thank C.A.’s neighbor! *Round of applause*

Luca lifted his head as the smell of fresh blood flowed by with the wind. Turning his head, his ears perked as a cry echoed through the woods. Concentrating hard, he tuned his hearing to the direction from which the wind was blowing and listened as a woman cried out in pain, followed by a man’s shout. A familiar smell, one that had accompanied several previous murders in his woods, wafted along the breeze. He rose, spread his wings and took off into the forest toward the problem.
There shouldn’t even be one, he thought angrily; they should not be trespassing on his land. He was going to assess the situation, and then act on it calmly. At least that was his plan until he landed on the branch and watched as a balding, short, overweight man beat a woman tied to a tree. The woman with brown shoulder-length hair and torn clothes was badly bruised and bloodied.
Luca’s nostrils flared with anger as he caught the smell of the man again. This man’s scent had been on three bodies he had found over the course of a year, women’s bodies so badly mutilated, the only way he’d known they were females was from their scent. Not again, not in his forest. He hadn’t been able to help any of the others, but this one he could, and with a horrifying screech he soared down, claws out, slashing them across the man’s throat as the murderer turned with fright in his eyes.
The naked woman just lay there unmoving, her eyes following him as he walked toward her, and she whispered a plea of help. He stepped out of the shadows, and her eyes widened before she slumped down in unconsciousness. Growling, he looked around the forest with hope that someone would run out and help this woman, but as his luck would have it, no one appeared. If he left her here, she’d end up freezing tonight. Even if he untied her he doubted she’d survive with her injuries and knew for damn sure she didn’t have the strength to get out of the forest. He could drop her off somewhere in town, but the chance of being spotted at this time of night was high and not to his liking.
Kneeling down, he used a claw to cut the rope tying her to the tree before he moved his gaze to her face again. She was cute, he thought, as he drew the back of his knuckle along her bruised face. With a sigh he lifted her into his arms, holding her close against his chest as he spread his wings and took off above the forest.

Flights.....I don't think so

I guess the only things like gas are not rocketing sky high....Air fair seems to be really hitting the roof. With all the conventions happening this year I have decided that I would like to take the chance to attend a few different ones next year.

One I want to go to again is the Romantic Times Book Lovers Convention...I stress the word WANT...

I decided to look into flight prices for next year for both the RT Convention and the Lori Foster get together...Well I was in for a shocker..

I was told to fly to Florida from here it will cost me $800 dollars..Yes I said 800

the shock had not set in so I decided to ask what it would be to fly to Cincinnati...

Now this is a kicker

$700 dollars...

Well that's no shocker there...$700 one way...

Urm...mam...no that's $700 each way...and we don't have any seats right now in economy...

Uh OK....well um...

What on earth are they thinking...$700 both ways...that's $1400 just for the flight...

So I guess I was getting excited a little too fast....

I know what you are thinking..I can save save save....Yeah I can but it is still way too expensive...

I wonder how many people are going to be flying anywhere when the prices are out of this world.

A flight to Europe is about $1200 bucks from what I recall...

I know that prices have jumped a lot due to the changes with the economy, a lot of airlines had to put the price up. I understand that the cost of fuel and everything has gone up, but how are people going to afford anything?

Driving to the conventions is out of the question since fuel is sky high as well....

What do you guys think about how the prices are going up for everything? How has it affected you?

Lori Foster's Get Together!

My hubby and I went to the Lori Foster Get Together this past weekend, and I have to say, we had a blast! We got to meet some really terrific authors, including Nice n' Naughty's own Anne Rainey and LA Day, both of whom are so sweet, as well as some wonderful readers!

I also did my very first booksigning, which was so much fun! I felt like a celebrity! LOL!

Gas Prices and E Books

We all know it's ridiculous, but how are we going to handle the increasing gas prices? Will you stay home more? Cut your food budget again? Is entertainment out the window? What about books? I stopped buying hard cover years ago. I just wait for my favorite author's new title to come out in paperback. Sometimes it's a hard wait, but I manage.

An interesting discussion took place a few days ago on one of my favorite yahoo groups.... http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/Avoid_Writers_Hell Avoid Writer's Hell. The group is owned by Faith Bickness-Brown who is the managing editor of Freya's Bower. She has a series of books available from Wild Child Publishing out now, by the same name--How to Avoid Writer's Hell.

Anyway, the discussion was all about rising gas prices and how it would affect the economy. As a result, our thoughts turned to e books versus print. Is this an opportunity in disguise for the e book industry? Will more people turn to e books to save money? With gas predicted to be close to six dollars a gallon by July 4th, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if people stopped buying a great many things--books included.



How can publishers of e books tap into this market borne of necessity? How can we as authors spread the word? And how can our readers help? Instead of looking at our failing economy as a complete disaster, I say we use this as an opportunity. So get out there and spread the word! And I'd love it if you would post your comments and thoughts on this subject.

Computer Troubles and Book Releasing in July

Hey all,
Some of you know, I’m having problems with my computer. I can’t post to anything. So I’m having a friend post this for me from her computer.

It all started….(wavy flash back waves)
When I tried to download Road Runners security software, CA Security Suite onto my computer. Watch out for this, it has totally messed my computer up. I’m talking even my operating system, Microsoft software, everything!!

When it’s all done and said I’m heading back to McAfee!

These people at CA started blaming the RR techs for something their software did. Get that one. I’ve been on the phone for a week now, have gone through 5 techs, one came to my house, I have another coming on Monday.
CROSS your fingers people!! I know I am.

Hot Hot Heat....

So the hot weather has already hit here in Canada. We have already reached temperatures of 40 C.... That's hot....Really hot...That means one thing the AC is getting turned on...Here at our house we've been keeping the blinds shut and trying to avoid opening the doors to go outside.

So since I'm in more now it has given me a bit more time to write and focus on other writing related stuff. I know that during the summer I will also make it a point to get away with the family. Enjoy the warm weather while it is here....

What are you guys planning to do during the summer season and while we have this great weather?

Even though it is sometimes so hot you want to pass out I still like the summer. Everything is green, the flowers are blooming and you can get a great tan. Plus you get to be out more. I think after being stuck in during the winter it's a breath of fresh air to spend this much time outside.

What do you guys like or hate about this warm weather and the summer?

What's up with L.A. Day

What going on with me? Well, let me tell ya.

Today, I leave town for the Lori Foster Get Together. I’ll be there tonight through Sunday morning. I saw Paige and Anne’s names on the list too. So, there will be at least three of the Nice n’ Naughty authors there. I can’t wait to meet them in person. If anyone is attending the event, I’m sure we’d all like to meet you.

Promotions and Organization

I'm wondering about how authors promote today. Of course we are posting like crazy to all the different yahoo groups, but is there something different you do to develop a readership? If so, I'd love to hear about it.

Promoting is very time consuming as we all know. The vast majority of us have MySpace pages and use those as much as possible of course. Then there is Facebook and Yuku as well. I'm on both of those, but must admit I don't really have the time to keep those sites updated.

What about blogging? I tend to believe that blogging is the most important tool in marketing our books. People do read your blogs-- if you get the word out about them that is. I personally had seven blogs I contributed to. I've cut back. Had to. The problem with blogging is that we seem to talk about the same subjects over and over. You need to be a bit creative in my opinion. No one wants to read an excerpt every single time they visit your blog. Chances are they've already seen it on a group and that's where they found out about your blog. I try to have conversations with people. Just act as though we were sitting around a table in a restaurant or in the kitchen at home and having a chat.

I probably push the envelope a bit more than some too. For instance, I share a blog with Jade Twilight. Sensual Secrets. http://sensualnsecret.blogspot.com
It's an erotic blog. Some would say a sex blog. All I know is that we get tons of hits. What do we discuss? All things sex. How tos, experiences, fantasies, etc. Jade and I switch off weeks and this is my week to post. So I'm having "random thoughts week". I posted this morning about sex and Presidential politics. It's a fun way to get your thoughts out there and discover new readers as well.

But let's face it, no matter what we do to promote, we have to be incredibly organized. And I'm not very organized. No matter what I schedule, something happens to change it. Everything from kid emergencies to mood swings. lol So what do you do to stay organized. I'd love to hear about your tips on organization and on promotions too.
