You don't edit you just write your buns off....
I have never done this before but have heard about if for years. This year I decided to take the leap and I signed up for the first time...It is a challenge but I am ready to take it on....I am a bit nervous about doing this because it is a full book and in only 30 days....But like I said I'm going to do it.
I think the topic that I will be writing about shall be vampires...My fave creatures....I have so many amazing ideas and this is my time to push and get them onto paper...Have any of you ever done NaNoWrimo? What has been your experience?
So in case you are wondering what you get for finishing the 50,000 word book, you don't get anything. It is just the satisfaction of meeting the challenge. So wish me luck as I embark on this extra large challenge this November.

This year will be number 5 for me. I don't intend to quit now. I'm officially a Nano Addict!
My novel is slightly futuristic and involves an exact copy of my leading character... and she's a psychotic, sadistic mass murderer.
When my char gets to Russia, everyone treats her like a ticking time bomb and when she tries to find out why, she keeps running into this wall... literally.
Okay, so it's a wall of muscle named Sergei Nikolin, and he's VERY sexy. *think Hugh Jackman as wolverine with a russian accent*
The twist in this mess is that A:Selena *main character*'s homicidal exact copy is the daughter of a prominent Russian Mafia boss. and B: Sergei is a shapeshifting Polar Bear, acting as a bodyguard for said boss.
Oh, and one other thing..
If you DO make it to 50K, you also get a nifty certificate of accomplishment to print out and frame. :D
The fun part about writing Nano is the friends you make, the kickoff and Thank God it's Over parties, and just the absolute fun of letting your imagination go truly insane for a month. :D
Hey there Savannah,
This is year 4 for me, and I want that 4th certificate LOL.
I'm already over my daily word count so this should be fun.
Only advice I have is write, and keep writing even when if it all sounds like gibberish.

This is year 4 for me as well and I am well and truly addicted. The most important thing is to not procrastinate! The month can get away from you so quickly if you start promising yourself that you will 'make up what I didn't do tomorrow'.
I didn't get a certificate my second year for exactly that reason and I'm still angry at myself.
As of right now I have no idea what I am writing about. In a couple hours I'll have my kids to bed and that is when I'll start.
A blank page.
A thousand inner voices.
Who ever talks the loudest when my fingers touch the keys gets to play.
I signed up last night at the last minute and I'm still wondering what I've done. Oy! Haven't written a word yet today. Wish me luck.

oh I'm nervous now...LOL..I just started since it was a very crazy day for me...I'm hlafway to my daily word count so it is not too bad....Dianet omg your book sounds amazing......mine is vampires....urm thats all i know for now
You get a certificate and a sense of accomplishment for doing it! Hey, if you make it, you get a 50000 word manuscript. Not bad for a month of writing (-:
I do it but never in an official capacity. I tend to do it with works I've already started on, but for whatever reason, got set aside for other things. I'm actually hosting a month-long NaNo related contest and you CAN win prizes! Check out my website if interested. I'm hoping for a big turnout since there are four categories to choose winners from. If I get alot of people involved, I might throw in some more little random prizes. We ought to make this as fun as possible, you know?
Hey Savannah!
This is year 2 for me. Of course, the book that I started last year, I just finished two days ago. I had to go for the whole overachiever thing and it's now a 140,000 word monstrosity. But I'm doing it again this year.
And I'm limiting myself to 50,000 words!
